Local Missions

Lakeview Christian School, a K-4 through 5th grade school, was established with the purpose of pursuing Christian, patriotic, and academic excellence.  Enrollment is limited to 16 students per class (10 students in K-4).  Financing comes from support from Memorial UMC, tuition, private donations, the Hearts for Missions Fund, and various fundraising events.  For more information, contact Christena Villarreal at 465-0313 or visit their website at www.lakeviewchristianschool.org.

Lake Placid Christian School is a local Christian middle school, with grades 6th - 8th.  For more information, call 465-5491 or visit their website at www.lakeplacidchristianschool.com.

National Missions

Youth for Christ has been reaching the lost youth of your world for 55 years.  Millions of young people have been reached through this worldwide ministry since it was founded by Torrey Johnson and Billy Graham.  The vision of Youth for Christ is to give every young person a chance to make an informed decision for Christ and to become part of a local church.

International Missions

Homeless and Orphan Outreach, Inc. (HOOI) was formed in 1982 when Memorial UMC became involved with the care of orphaned and homeless children in the Dominican Republic.  In 1988, their need and our interest caused some members of Memorial to form an independent corporation to help meet the needs of these children on a continuing basis.  More than 1,000 children are helped daily.  For more information, contact Troy White, PO Box, 1370, Lake Placid, FL 33862.

Costa Rica Mission.  We support the work of Ray and Lydia Zirkel, whose mission in Costa Rica reached out with the love of Christ by building churches, educating Pastors, and feeding and educating children.  For more information, contact Gary Cavasos at (863) 699-1670.

The Nettles Family, through Youth with a Mission, is doing mission work in the St. Mark area of Haiti.  Following the earthquake in Haiti, the church was able to send relief supplies to St. Mark to help the refugees. For more information, see the following video.
